How to Create a Professional Email Account in cPanel (Step-by-Step)

If your website is hosted on a cPanel-based plan, professional email on your own domain is already included — most business owners just never switch it on. Creating [email protected] takes about ten minutes. This refreshed guide walks through it on a modern cPanel, then covers the setup details that decide whether your mail actually arrives.

Create the mailbox

  1. 1

    Log in to cPanel

Go to yourdomain.co.za/cpanel and sign in with the hosting credentials your provider emailed you when you signed up.

  2. 2

    Open Email Accounts

Find the Email section and click Email Accounts, then Create.

  3. 3

Choose the address and a strong password

Pick an address you will be proud to print on a business card. Use the generator for a strong password and save it in a password manager.

  4. 4

    Set a sensible quota

Give the mailbox enough storage for attachments — 1GB to 5GB is comfortable for most users — then click Create.

Three ways to read your mail

  • Webmail: yourdomain.co.za/webmail — instant access from any browser, no setup. Roundcube is the friendly default
  • Phone and desktop apps: use the IMAP settings shown in cPanel under Connect Devices — IMAP keeps everything synced across your phone, laptop and webmail
  • Forwarders: you can forward mail to another address, but keep the original mailbox active so you can still send from your domain

The part that decides whether your email arrives

A mailbox that sends mail into spam folders is worse than no mailbox. Before you send your first quote, check three DNS records in cPanel’s Zone Editor:

  • SPF — lists which servers may send mail for your domain. cPanel’s Email Deliverability page shows a green tick when it is correct
  • DKIM — cryptographically signs your outgoing mail so receivers can verify it is really from you
  • DMARC — tells receivers what to do with mail that fails those checks, and sends you reports

Check Email Deliverability first

Modern cPanel has an Email Deliverability tool that scores each domain and offers one-click fixes for SPF and DKIM. Run it before you touch anything else — two clicks there prevents months of “did you get my email?”

Rather have it done for you?

Our email hosting plans include mailbox setup, aliases, device configuration and full deliverability setup — SPF, DKIM and DMARC handled, so your quotes land in inboxes, not junk folders.
